Safeguarding
The Scottish Handball Association (SHA) is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all children in its care. It recognises the responsibility to promote safe practice, to protect children from harm, abuse and exploitation.
For the purposes of the policy below and associated procedures, a child is recognised as someone under the age of 18 years in line with the United Nations Convention for the Rights of a Child (UNCRC). Staff and volunteers will work together to embrace difference, welcome diversity and respect the rights of children and young people.
Please refer below for advice and guidance on what to do if you have a concern about a child or young person, or someone working or volunteering within the sport.
If you are concerned about the immediate safety of a child, please contact your local social work team or Police Scotland on 999.
The Scottish Handball Association has a Child Wellbeing & Protection Officer who has a dedicated email address: childprotection@scottishhandball.com and we have an online reporting form which can be completed here Significant Incident Record Form whereby our Child Wellbeing & Protection Officer will get back to you at their earliest opportunity.
