Equality Working Group

Equality Working Group

What is it?

Established in 2022, our Equality Working Group exists to help promote equality across all aspects of Scottish Handball's activities.  Led, and chaired, by Eilidh McDonald - the SHA Women's and Girls Lead Development Officer - the group helps advise the Executive Team and Board of the SHA on all relevant matters.  The aims of the Group include:

  • Ensure continued inclusivity within the Scottish handball community and create an environment where everyone feels welcome and safe.

  • Continue developing equal and fair opportunities for everyone to play handball without regard to their age, sex, gender identity, disability, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, religion, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, socioeconomic status or sexual orientation.

  • Focus on improving matters relating to equality, especially focusing on the two key underrepresented groups in Scotland for Handball. The two underrepresented groups identified by the SHA Staff and the EHF (our European Governing Body, the European Handball Federation) are:

    • Women and Girls
    • Children aged 8-11y
