National Squads

We are building our age group pathway and Academy at Oriam Scotland’s National Performance Centre at Heriot Watt. The pathway will feed in to the British Handball pathway which is being developed in preparation for the EHF age category competitions for M18 (born 2000/2001), M20 (born 1998/1999), W19 (born 2000/2001) and W17(born 2002/2003) .

There are 2 national squads operating.

Girls Born 2002/2003
Boys Born 2002/2003

For male players born 2001 and older they are part of an Academy system which focus on individual player development.

For female players born 2001 and older some of the players are part of the GB squad and we are reviewing how we will setup an academy system for this age category.

For eligibility for the SHA pathway squads a player must be resident in Scotland but there is no requirement to hold a British passport to be part of the squad. If a player is based outside Scotland then one of their parents must have been born in Scotland to be part of the SHA pathway squads.

Eligibility to play for Great Britain follows the IHF rules. For GB, players must have a British passport received through birth rights or citizenship.
