At the Alistair McCoist Centre last week in East Kilbride local team EK82 clinched their place in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final after defeating Livingston. They made a quick start in the match taking a 4-0 lead early on but Livingston fought well to get back in the match and the score stayed close for the remainder of the first half. EK82 were leading 16-13 at half-time. At the start of the 2nd half EK82 again made a very strong start and started to extend their lead. At one point midway through the half they managed to take a 10 goal lead. Then Livingston started a fightback with EK82 not looking as strong as earlier in the match and failing to take their chances. Livingston managed to pull back the score to 6 goals with around 10 minutes to go. This was a crucial point in the match as any further reduction in the lead would have increased the pressure on EK82. However EK82 re-grouped and with their strongest 7 on again started to increase their lead. They pulled away from Livingston eventually winning 37-27. It was a solid match from EK82 but Livingston will be disappointed since they didn’t show the form they had in matches earlier in the season against their opponents. It was good to see so much young talent on show in the match and the future for both teams is bright.
